Letter of Appreciation to Amnesty International for Advocating Women and Girls' Rights in Afghanistan

, by Voice For Institutional Democracy

Dear Amnesty International,

I am writing this letter to express my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering commitment that you have shown towards promoting and protecting human rights, particularly those of women and girls. Your tireless efforts to document and report on the violations of women's and girls' rights in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime since August 2021 have not gone unnoticed.

I have read some of your reports, including "Death in slow motion: Women and girls under Taliban rule," "The denial of human rights to women and girls by the Taliban is an attempt to erase them from Afghan society," and "UN Security Council meeting must focus on reversing the Taliban’s mistreatment of women and girls." These reports provide a deep insight into the harsh reality of the situation faced by women and girls in Afghanistan, who have been denied their basic rights to education, work, freedom of movement, and public appearance.

I commend your advocacy and campaigning efforts to ensure that world countries and multilateral bodies work to ensure that women and girls can freely exercise their rights in Afghanistan. Your call to action to the United Nations Security Council to halt the steep decline in women and girls' rights in Afghanistan is particularly noteworthy.

As an Independent Human Rights Defender, I understand the importance of advocating for the most vulnerable groups in society, and I am deeply impressed by the tireless work that Amnesty International does to bring attention to these issues. Your reports on the erosion of women's and girls' rights in Afghanistan have been instrumental in raising awareness about the human rights crisis in the country, and your advocacy efforts have been critical in urging world countries and multilateral bodies to take action to protect these rights.

In a time where human rights are increasingly under threat, your organization's commitment to protecting these fundamental values is truly admirable. I want to thank you for your unwavering dedication to this cause and for the important work that you do in protecting the most vulnerable members of our global community.

I am particularly grateful for the work that Amnesty International has done to shine a light on the Taliban's systematic attacks on women's and girls' rights in Afghanistan. Your report, "Death in Slow Motion: Women and Girls Under Taliban Rule," and your advocacy efforts to reverse the Taliban's mistreatment of women and girls in the country have been instrumental in bringing attention to this critical issue.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your unwavering commitment to promoting and protecting human rights. I remain hopeful that together, we can continue to fight for a world where every individual's rights are respected and protected.

Sincerely,

Minhaz Samad Chowdhury,
